On July 6th Michael Landry, owner of the Tantramar Community Concerns Facebook Group, changed the platform from a community page to a debate/forum style page and changed the name to the Tantramar Forum. When the out-of-work moderator was asked why she was no longer moderating the site she said, “I told Michael I don’t want to be moderating robots, and that’s when he told me it was a done deal, robots are the future.” Michael, who is known for using AI for content said, “This will be good as you can generate all kinds of crap with that.” When our Onion reporter asked Michael if this would change the character of the site as now it’s more of a debate page, Michael said: “Hey if people don’t want to debate on this forum, I’ll just create a bunch of new AI members to do it. Problem solved.”
When former member Sally was asked about the site she said, “I was very confused by the change. “It was so sudden. I used to go there to get all my local information on the community, but now there are new mods and I think they are robots. I’ve never heard of them before, so I don’t even think these are local robots. That’s just too scary for me as I have never talked to a robot before. The closest I got to talking to a robot was the one that served at me at new Korean Oh! Chicken place in town.”
